As a Feudal society, there is the Law of the Land as laid down by the crown, which applies throughout Lesia and is enforced throughout, but each city, town or village may also have it's own set of laws and codes provided they do not contradict the King's Laws.
The Laws of the land are enforced by particular members of the Royal Guilds. Two groups of people known as the King’s Militia, and the King’s Foresters are normally the kingdoms Police force, although each guild supports its own law agency for inter guild business.
The Militia can be found in most in towns and villages, and it is their job to make sure the ordinary populace is not breaking the law. When anyone is found guilty of breaking the law it is the Militia who enforce any sentences. Any Crimes committed outside of the Civilized settlements are the responsibility of the King’s Foresters
Not all villages have permanent Militia on call and may only be visited by them occasionally. Should a major crime be committed and the offender caught whilst there are no Militia available, it is the responsibilities of the captors to keep the alleged offender in good health until they arrive. This task normally falls upon the ‘head man’ of the village. If, however, a crime is of a minor nature, the execution of the law may be carried out by the governing body of the village.
The basic laws of the kingdom have been in existence for centuries, but could change at any time if a directive from the current monarch were to be sent to the legal authorities. There is no real legal system which covers the whole of Orlaine and punishment may vary from place to place. These can change dependently on local authorities, remoteness of area, war, famine and so on,
