Our system allows for Player vs Player combat (PVP), that is combat between characters. This can come about through Roleplay of the characters or through the mind-controlling abilities of monsters.
The club has made a motion to bring in certain rules and conditions which must be met in order for a character to kill another character of their own accord. This is to ensure that the attempt is fair and abides by the rules, and to prevent arguments or uncertainty as to the final results. These requirements are currently be drawn up and will be posted here once completed, but in the interim the below guidelines will be used:
An independent Referee must be present, one who is neither a target nor an aggressor.
The Referee must witness the attempt, ideally they must also be aware beforehand.
If you intend to perform an action that will deliberately or probably lead to PVP combat, you must notify a neutral Referee or your intent before taking action. This is because the heroic combat system we use is designed for use between players and monsters - the fight usually ends when the monsters have run out of hits, and the time out is used to count the characters injuries and determine if they survived or not, and players are effectively on the honour system to fall unconscious mid encounter and can only guess at their true health.
A neutral Referee can take the time to calculate the relative damage each character can inflict, and inform the parties when to fall unconscious with less guesswork, improving the fairness & accuracy of the encounter.
