As a general Rule, any character participating in a playtest will not need to purchase the play tested skills, but will gain access to the spells/skills etc as appropriate based either on their points or certain pre-requisites. Note that in the case of spells they will not gain any Power Points for the playtest spells, and if the skills become approved they will then need to purchase the skills as usual.
As a general rule characters will gain access to skills at the following points:
Below 50 Points - Minor level skills associated with the playtest.
Below 100 Points - Minor and Moderate skills associated with the playtest
Above 100 Points - All skills associated with the playtest.
Where characters seek to use playtest rules they must sign up to the appropriate database in advance noting their intent, they must also inform the referee on the day. They must also have access to a copy of the playtest for the adventure which can be accessed during battle boarding if necessary. Either a hard or a digital copy is acceptable - if a hardcopy is brought then a spare copy is encouraged as the referee may wish to carry one.
Referees and Script Writers have the right to refuse a playtest on their adventure, although this is discouraged as skills need to be used to be tested and provide feedback.
These playtests are restricted to a few individual players or characters, these are usually determined by volunteering or nomination at the meeting the rules are proposed. For example playtesting a new spell list may be limited to few characters who meet the proposed theme.
These playtests are open to any player or character to experiment with and use on adventures provided they meet the pre-requisite skills. Any player who makes use of any rules under playtest should inform the referee for the event.
Items marked with (*) are currently included in the main body of Rules, but are seeking active feedback before formal acceptance.
