NOTES Runes are magical traps placed upon drawings, these drawings must be placed within a circle of 2 to 3 inches in diameter on an object. When disturbed a Rune will release its effect centred on the creature which disturbed the Rune. The spell placed within must be one known and cast by the caster of the Rune, and must have a power cost equal to or lower than the cost of the Rune spell used to store it. Each Rune counts as a Spirited item and uses up 1 Inherent Item Slot, a single item may hold up to 5 Runes although each must be held in their own drawing. The Discern Runes skill is required to discern and identify Runes, the Discern Spirits skill can detect their presence but not identify them as Runes. When a Rune's duration expires it dissipates harmlessly, leaving a mundane drawing which could be used again.
There are 3 distinct types of Runic Symbol, the caster selects which is created at the time of casting.- Mobile Rune
- Mobile Runes are cast into small portable objects such as weapons or books, and can be carried as long as a person speaks the activation word before touching the Rune. A creature must speak the command phrase before manipulating or disturbing the object, otherwise the rune is triggered upon the creature disturbing the object. If a creature drops the object they must repeat the command phrase each time they pick it up.
- Immobile Rune
- Immobile Runes may be cast on any object and are triggered if disturbed by any creature with the exception of the caster, and are often cast on doorways or chests.
- Tomb Rune
- Tomb Runes are cast upon a breakable item and are triggered when the Rune is broken. Tomb Runes surround the target in a protective sheath of inherent force that prevents the user from moving or being moved, making them immune to physical and inherent damage, spells and effects.
- Tomb runes do not offer any protection from Focussed damage, spells or effects or from Magic Weapons.

EFFECT (Moderate) Protects the caster from Normal Damage for the duration of the spell, in addition the caster ignores damage from Inherent Spells and effects which deal equal or less than 9 TBP & 9 LBP (3 Hits). This does not include Spiritual Weapons, such as Spirit Hammers.

RepeatEFFECT (Major) Protects the caster from Normal Damage for the duration of the spell, in addition the caster ignores damage from Inherent Spells and effects which deal equal or less than 15 TBP & 15 LBP (5 Hits). This does not include Spiritual Weapons, such as Spirit Hammers.
NOTES This spell makes the caster immune to Normal Weapon Damage as long as they continue to chant the vocals of the spell. Nondamaging effects are still effective, for example Mighty Blow Strike-down, Trips, Shatter etc. This spell does not prevent damage from weapons made from special materials such as Silver or Cold Iron, nor from enchanted weapons such as Magic or Spirit. The Spell also ends immediately if any of the following conditions occur:- The caster ceases chanting or materially deviates from the vocals - roleplay and expression of character through vocals is encouraged, however taking part in a discussion or verbally relaying information is sternly discouraged and will end the spell.
- The caster attempts to cast another spell or activates a special ability which requires concentration.
- The caster inflicts damage or a harmful effect on another creature, for example delivering a poison or pushing a creature into a hazard or trap.
- The caster takes an aggressive action which can include placing themselves in front of a monster or attempting to restrain them.

NOTES This spell can only target Inherent Magic Spells. Instant spells must be Negated within 5 seconds of the target spell being cast. Non-Instant spells can be negated at any point during their duration, ending them immediately. A Negate will only affect a spell of the same level or lower, if the NEGATE is of a lower level then it has no effect and the target spell is unaffected.LEVEL ModerateCOST 5RANGE 20'TYPE BarrierMETHOD Whilst Saying the vocals, indicate each end point of the spell with your empty spell-casting hand. NOTES This spell does not impede Focussed Spells or creatures without a Spirit. Objects can only cross the barrier if carried by a creature who completely crosses the barrier, and thus weapons cannot be swung, thrown or fired across.
